Single-sided positive turning insert, 80° rhomboid with 7° clearance, inscribed circle diameter of 3/8 inch, 5/32 inch thick, 1/64 inch nose radius and indexing accuracy according to ISO-tolerance class- G with chip-breaker SF3. Features FA geometry with sharp cutting edges, now enhanced with a BALINIT® MAYURA (ta-C DLC) coating from Oerlikon Balzers, specifically engineered for turning non-ferrous materials. This ultra-thin (~0.3 µm), high-hardness (>65 GPa) carbon-based coating provides:
- Extremely low friction (<0.10)
- Reduced material adhesion
- Maintained sharp cutting edges
- Significantly improved wear resistance and tool life
Suitable for turning non-ferrous materials including aluminum alloys (including high-Si content), copper, brass, and polymers.
